Angie,
According to the District website the June 8th meeting doesn’t start until 4 PM, so either your email below or the District website is inaccurate.

Angie and Kristen, IT'S NOT OKAY TO KEEP PEOPLE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH STANDING IN THE SUN FOR HOURS BEFORE THEY CAN SPEAK.   I WISH THE OTHER BOARD MEMBER WOULD SPEAK UP AND SUPPORT JEFF ON THIS!

Again, Please move the meeting to a venue that will hold at least 300 people.

Feel free to forward this email to others who care, including the media.

John

Dear Ms. McNeill
There are several reasons why the June 8, 2021 meeting is scheduled to be held in the Board room. Three of which are listed below.

1. Recent history demonstrates that the length of our meetings requires that we begin at 2pm in order to have time to conduct the business of the District. Prior to this year, the majority of our meetings have begun at 4pm.
2. School is still in session at 2pm which makes those venues unavailable.
3. Prior to this year, we have continued to hold meetings with a great amount of public interest in the Board room, making the reasonable accommodations that are required by the Nevada Open Meeting Law. This year is being treated in a similar manner.

I realize that waiting outside is inconvenient. However, all who attend are still able to give their public comments to the Board of Trustees. Those who do not attend, are still able to watch via the District's YouTube channel.

Thank you.
Angie Taylor

Angie,

Thank you for your email.

Kristen & Angie,

Again, please consider holding the June 8th board meeting in a venue that will hold at least 300 people.   Leaving people to stand in the sun for several hours is not acceptable!

To All:

Thank you for your emails regarding the venue for school board meetings. As you know, school board meetings are regularly held in the Board room. This changes when we returned to in-person meetings in order to adhere to COVID restrictions. As you may also know, this was not without its challenges.

On June 1, 2021, social distancing will end which will allow for more participants to a have seating inside the Board room. As has been done for years, every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate those wishing to attend. We've had extended participation for our meetings before and those meetings were held in the Board Room.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. I am looking for the day when we have a larger Board room in order to accommodate large crowds on an ongoing bases.

Sincerely,

Angie Taylor

Mr. Eppolito:

I agree 100%. I'm told some folks were sunburned and left. Many names were  called and not answered. We had received emails prior asking for a better venue.

The Gov OML restrictions end June 1 (I'm told) and with school ending the 9th I bet some schools (AACT?) will have little or no activity by the 8th. If it is a factor, I can research a venue at no cost to the district. Even if legal, it is appalling and unconscionable in my opinion. Unlike the Admin building, schools or other sites offer room, restrooms, and ample parking.

A couple of us asked for a larger venue before the meeting, we were ignored.   There will likely be even more people at the June 8th meeting,

    Board Members,

Please provide a venue that will hold 300 people.
